A key conference in October will bring together Yorkshire’s food and drink industry to discuss innovation, new produce development, processing, packaging and logistics.

Organised by Sheffield Hallam University and the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink, the Food and Drink Skills Summit is an opportunity for the region’s food and drink companies to discuss skills and training needs for the sector.

The event will offer lively debate around the support needed for product, process and packaging improvements. It will feature innovative speakers from the sector, and reveal the findings of research into Yorkshire and Humber’s skills requirements in this important sector.

John Sorsby, head of Hallam’s Centre for Food Innovation, said: “Companies will need people with the necessary skills and ablities to identify and capitalise on product, process and packaging innovations. We need companies’ input to ensure we provide the right training support to meet their needs.”

The Food and Drink Skills Summit takes place on October 14.
