Farnsworth dons his ceremonial clobber

The Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber chairman Patrick Farnsworth was appointed High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire last week, taking over the post from Jonathan Watson Hall.

The post of High Sheriff is one of the oldest surviving positions in the UK, having been in place for 1,016 years. Farnsworth will take up the post for one year.

In his position as chairman at the Regional Food Group, Farnsworth works to raise awareness of the group and to take the consumer brand, deliciouslyorkshire, to a wider audience.

He is also currently non-executive director of food processing company Cranswick plc, governor at Bishop Burton College and a board member of Campden BRI (International Food and Drink Research Association).

Farnsworth said: “To hold the position of High Sheriff is an immense honour. Having lived and worked in the East Riding of Yorkshire all my life, I feel proud to be given the opportunity to serve the county”.
