Colleagues celebrate YFS's fifth birthday with a cake featuring the company's new logo

Yorkshire Fresh Salads, an Asda dedicated producer of prepared leafy salads, celebrated five years of trading on July 1.

YFS, based near Selby in North Yorkshire is part of the Geest Group plc and has made significant investments to continuously improve production equipment and processes, keep the site at the forefront of technology, and providing employees with new facilities.

To celebrate the occasion, senior managers dressed as salad characters and handed out gifts to all of its employees. A huge birthday cake featured the company’s new logo.

Jason England, general manager, said: "This is a major milestone for us and we believe that all our employees should have the opportunity to be part of the celebration of that success. The site has developed strongly over the past five years, and our new logo launches another era for us, as a dedicated supplier to Asda. Our five years mirrors the time Asda has been a part of the Wal-Mart family, and we are pleased to be associated with the ongoing success of the Britain’s best value supermarket.”

YFS attributes its success to a strong relationship with Asda, which has expanded its prepared salads business by nearly 300 per cent in the last five years. YFS have launched 53 products into the Asda range since it began trading in 1999. The current YFS range of bag and tray salads totals 13 products.

Paul Lei, Asda prepared produce buyer, said: "YFS has been a very proactive business over the last five years, striving for excellence, which is evident in its commitment to building a good trade relationship with Asda and our Everyday Low Cost approach. YFS has helped launch some excellent products on Asda’s shelves, which are very popular among our customers and are helping to drive the category forward."
