Worldwide Fruit is to move from its West Marsh Lane location in Spalding to a new site in Wardentree Lane, Pinchbeck.

The £5 million development is expected to be up and running by October and is set to include an 8,500 sqft office block and an environmentally friendly 52,000sqft factory with modern ripening facilities.

Ceo Robert Balicki said the development will not mean redundancies, and is hopeful the expansion will actually create of more jobs. He said: “Although the move will be quite neutral in terms of jobs and redundancies, hopefully by going forward with the new site we will expand in terms of size and personnel, though nothing solid is in place at the moment.

“To meet the demands of our customers a more appropriate facility was required with a purpose-built factory to guarantee our efficient levels of production.”

The factory is set to consist of four large, fully racked coldstores, ten double-tier ripening chambers and a 22,000sqft temperature-controlled packing hall.
