Wonderful times ahead for Agrexco pomegranates

Agrexco plans to boost exports of its Wonderful pomegranates this season to 2,500 tonnes, from 1,300t last year, to meet rising demand.

The king-size fruit, marketed under Agrexco’s Carmel brand, will be presented in a series of new packaging options this season, that will include them as single fruits weighing from 0.7kg up to 1.3kg each, or encompassing the smaller sizes (350-450g) in pairs.

Yosi Rosenberg, Agrexco’s pomegranate product manager, said that the quality and environmental integrity of the fruit will remain as sharp as ever, despite the predicted increase in volumes.

Around 80 per cent of area in Israel planted with pomegranates consists of the Wonderful variety, which is mainly grown in the areas of Hadera and Gedera.
