Northern Irish potato grower and packer Wilson’s Country has signed a deal with Albert Bartlett to pack the Rooster brand for distribution in Northern Ireland.

The arrangement will see Armagh-based Wilson’s Country grow, pack and distribute the variety - sales of which have soared on the back of Bartlett’s TV campaign featuring Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross - at its facility in Craigavon. The firm currently distributes Rooster potatoes under its own Wilson’s Country brand.

“The fact that the business stays in Northern Ireland is good for the potato industry here,” said Wilson’s Country md Lewis Cunningham. “Albert Bartlett is a massive player and we are ready to welcome such strength to our sector.”

Wilson’s Country has worked with Bartlett on different potato varieties for the past three years and supplies a variety of multiples across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
