Staffordshire-based fresh produce wholesaler Arthur Roberts & Sons and md Mark Roberts has been fined £3,050 with costs after admitting displaying and offering for sale class I nectarines and class I lettuce in contravention of the Community Grading Rules, that is, failure to meet the quality requirements of the lowest marketable class due to rots.

The company was prosecuted under the Agricultural and Horticultural Act 1964.

Mark Roberts was fined £350, and Arthur Roberts & Sons £750, with costs of £1,950.
