Whitefields invests in Etna

Whitefields Produce Ltd, a major producer and supplier of carrots into UK supermarkets nation-wide has changed from traditional bagging to a more advanced vertical form fill and seal packaging system to meet increasing demand.

The Lancashire-based company now handles up to 80 packs a minute through its Etna Hi-Tec supplied by Ulma Packaging.

According to Whitefields' managing director Rachel Wheble, the system is a robustly constructed machine with a compact footprint and easy maintenance being fully servo driven and virtually service free. "Initially we were a little bit apprehensive in making the change, but the pressure was on from within the industry," said Wheble. "But we are delighted with both the machine, which has operated perfectly from day one, and with the level of service we have received from Ulma, which has been second to none."

" The Etna is an excellent machine for anyone involved in the vertical packaging market and offers great versatility along with exceptional value for money," said Ulma md David Patterson.
