Western International Market Tenants’ Association has its first female chairman, after Gill White was unanimously voted in at a meeting last week.
White has sat on the WIMTA executive for the last eight years, the last two as vice chairman to outgoing chairman George Bray, who formally resigned as chairman at the meeting and also resigned as a WIMTA director.
The new chairman, of Western Banana Centre, will work alongside a new vice chairman, Sheila Fisher of JH Bridges, who was also voted in unanimously. White said: “This is the start of a new era for Western International. The tenants association will be working closely with the London Borough of Hounslow to firstly get the new market running smoothly and then promotion of the market. After a difficult time recently, we will also be working to get all of the tenants back onside. Everybody here is looking forward to a bright future.”
An EGM, which had been requested by at least one tenant, to discuss the position of Bray, has been cancelled.
