It has been another busy month for the FPC, with several different projects to report on. After a good deal of preparation and planning, the Eat in Colour campaign has been launched to consumer media. You may have heard Brian Turner, celebrity chef, discussing the Eat in Colour message on a variety of regional radio programmes and we look forward to the progress of the campaign over the coming months.

Coinciding with this, a new, consumer-focused website went live www.eatincolour.com - well worth a look. While recent Defra statistics show increasing sales, we urge you not to become complacent but to support the Eat in Colour campaign - this is surely our window of opportunity to ensure the greatest possible impact on UK consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Closer to home, the FPC website is now live at www.freshproduce.org.uk and we thank you for the many positive and encouraging comments we have received. We hope you find the range of services and information useful and easy to access and we look forward to the ongoing development and evolvement of the site. Look out for regular updates on key industry issues as we aim to keep you one step ahead of changing regulations and legislation that affect your business.

We would like to thank Jan Lloyd and her team at the market authority for their kind hospitality during our importers’ division visit to the market and Covent House last month. It was great to gain an insight into the future vision for the market which will certainly offer a vibrant opportunity for our members.

Lastly, we are looking forward to the FPC Annual Dinner 2007 later this month and to welcoming another capacity crowd. Spain is a key EU member state and plays an important role within our industry in the UK. We are pleased to announce our guest of honour this year is His Excellency Don Carlos Miranda, Ambassador for Spain, and we thank the Spanish Embassy and Foods from Spain for their support.
