Aja has unveiled a new weigh-packing system aimed at the grape sector.
Suppliers to Asda and Tesco have already installed the equipment to help them pack more accurately and efficiently. “Packing table grapes to fixed weight with maximum efficiency and accuracy but with minimum waste is particularly challenging and in some packhouses, other produce will need to be weighed on the same line so flexibility is critical,” a spokesperson for Aja said.
“Similarly over-packing; whether to average or net minimum weight is a common problem, having a direct impact on profitability.”
Aja’s TDW 205 Selector scale achieves best weight and reduces snipping, waste and give-away.
According to Aja, a typical installation has four to six Selector scales as part of a carousel packing line.
Raw material and part-filled punnets are delivered to the scale operators and pre-snippers with the finished punnets running on a upper tier for onward delivery to the sealer.
