IFCO Systems, which has a worldwide pool of more than 75 million re-usable and returnable containers (RPC) - predominantly used for transporting fresh produce - is providing customers with a “new and modern web-based clearing platform which considerably simplifies the accounting work for the deposit charged on the containers”.

Wolfgang Orgeldinger, chief operating officer of IFCO, said at Fruit Logistica: “IFCO Systems is estimated to have more than 48 per cent of the European market, making it the leading supplier of re-usable, folding containers,” he said. “The company is presenting its newly developed software for its RPC clearing system.

“All the processes can be fully automated and paper documentation is no longer required. This extensive, internet-based deposit clearing system is simple to use too. All incoming and outgoing movements can be constantly shown on screen and the system is automatically adjusted each time. This eliminates the complicated work of manually adjusting the dispatch data.”
