Ben Stimson

Ben Stimson has been appointed as Waitrose's new retail director.

He will move into the role vacated by Rob Collins, who is set to become managing director at the retailer on 4 April following the departure of Mark Price to become minister of state for trade and investment.

Stimson joined the John Lewis Partnership in 2010, and has held a number of senior roles in both John Lewis and Waitrose.

He is currently a member of the John Lewis management board and, immediately prior to that, he had been director of retail operations at Waitrose for two years from 2013.

Collins said: “Ben is a talented individual who has already made a great contribution to the partnership. He’ll be a terrific retail director and an effective member of the Waitrose management board.”

After graduating, Stimson worked as a management consultant and from 2001 to 2009, he held a number of senior marketing and communications positions at Sky.

Stimson has been on the board of the Nationwide Building Society’s charitable foundation since 2008, and became its chair in 2012.
