Waitrose growth spurt continues

Waitrose sales for the latest 26-week cumulative period are 10.6 per cent up year-on-year, according to the weekly update by parent group the John Lewis Partnership.

The JLP ended the first half of its financial year with extremely solid trading performances from both of its retail divisions, with Waitrose at the forefront. In the week to July 29, Waitrose registered a 15.5 per cent increase to £70.8 million. The 26 John Lewis department stores recorded a 6.9 per cent increase in sales to £46.1m in the same week.
