WAC still searching for president

The Washington Apple Commission (WAC) has made several key staff changes, but still not appointed a full-time president.

The body, which has been operating without a full-time president for the past month, announced new roles for three existing members of staff, as reported in The Packer.

Rebecca Baerveldt was promoted to manager of strategic planning, government relations and grant writing, after a stint as the commission’s export marketing manager.

Commission vice-president and treasurer Robin Mooney is to become operations director.

Project manager Todd Fryhover has been moved up to export operations director.

But the commission remains without a president, following the decision by the board of directors on July 24 to place then-president Dave Carlson on administrative leave.

Dalton Thomas, owner of Wenatchee-based Oneonta Trading Corp and Mark Zirkle, president of Rainier Fruit Co in Washington, are heading up the search for a new president.
