Herb supplier Vitacress has used Skype to host a series of e-learning sessions and give virtual tours of its new glasshouse for primary schoolchildren across the country.
Part of its commitment to the Tesco Eat Happy initiative, Vitacress has welcomed children as young as four to its Q&A sessions and interactive herb classes.
Hosted by production director Chris Moncrieff, the sessions have seen schools share poems and knowledge about growing food and healthy eating. They aso talked about cultivating herbs and vegetables in preparation for making a summer lunch for their parents.
Vitacress has four more Skype sessions booked in the coming weeks and plans to roll out its interactive herb classes an increasing number of schools.
Moncrieff said: “Working with Eat Happy has given us the very exciting opportunity of taking the glasshouse into classrooms across the country.
“Using technology like Skype has given us the chance to share our nurseries, our expertise and our enthusiasm for herbs and healthy eating, regardless of location.”
