Nominations have been announced for an award that encourages businesses to improve their vegetarian offer.
Contenders for The Vegetarian Society Imperfect World Award include Guinness, Bassett’s and Holland & Barrett.
A spokesman for the society said: “From a vegetarian vantage point some products are totally out to sea, but others are on the brink of being suitable.
“The award throws a lifeline to the companies that make the nearly vegetarian products that veggies want to eat.”
The winner will be announced on October 27 aboard The Cutty Sark. More traditional awards will also be up for grabs, such as the Best Vegetarian Bistro or Café accolade.
