Univeg unveils new CEO

Univeg has announced that Theo de Kool will take up the role of chief executive officer on 1 May, taking over from Rudi De Becker, who is retiring from the business.

De Kool, who has a masters degree in economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, joined Univeg in March 2010 as chief financial officer and executive member of the group's board of directors.

Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer at Sara Lee Corporation, based in Chicago, having also previously held the position of chief financial officer at Sara Lee-Douwe Egberts and Blokker in the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Univeg has also announced that Francis Kint, currently chief executive of the group's fruit and vegetables business unit, has been appointed as an executive member of Univeg's board of directors.

"I am delighted that Theo de Kool will be the new CEO of Univeg," said Univeg board chairman Hein Deprez, "Theo is an experienced professional and under his leadership Univeg's future will be in very good hands."

He added: "I am also happy to welcome Francis Kint as a new executive member of the board. He brings with him a thorough experience and knowledge of the industry."
