Heavy rainfall and high winds were causing concern to growers on Wednesday.

Producers in the East Midlands were having difficulty getting onto some fields with heavy machinery because of waterlogging, and this was mainly affecting brassica producers on Wednesday, after an inch of rain overnight on Tuesday.

In the South of England, standing water and high river levels in parts of Hampshire and Sussex led to concern for subsequent flood danger.

In South West England, low-lying grassland was underwater on Tuesday and Wednesday, but there were no reports of damage to vegetable crops.

Flood watches were in force in the Vale of Evesham area for the River Avon and some roads in East Anglia were flooded, but not to the extent of blocking produce getting through.
