Turkey has been unveiled as next year’s partner country at Fruit Logistica.

It is to present its largest ever presentation of companies at the huge German trade fair, which takes place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds for the twentieth time on 8 -10 February, 2012.

Turkey has sponsored a national stand at Fruit Logistica every year since 2000 and its representation has been organised by the Mediterranean Exporters Unions since 2004.

The partnership is seen as a key stepping stone in the country’s plans to increase the total value of fresh produce exports from $2.1 billion figure to $10bn by 2023.

Messe Berlin COO Dr. Christian Göke said: "With its wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables, Turkey is a key trading partner for Germany, the European Union and many other countries around the world. Turkey's steadily growing presence at Fruit Logistica in recent years reflects the country's increasing importance as a producer, exporter and trading partner for the global fresh produce sector.”

Turkey produced 43 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables last year and exported 6.7 per cent of its total production (2.9 million tonnes), according to information from the Mediterranean Exporters Unions.
