The contract between the European Commission and the Euro-ACP country liaison committee (COLEACP) for the implementation of the Pesticides Initiative Programme (PIP) ended on July 12, with a budget implementation rate of 99.2 per cent within the period fixed initially.
In view of a new support programme for the sector from the 10th EDF, the EC has already granted COLEACP an interim Programme (PIP transition period) of one year.
By maintaining the team responsible, it is hoped that support activities undertaken by PIP will be deepened, allowing the adjustment and diffusion of necessary new crop protocols to be continued, regulations to be monitored, dialogue to be pursued between ACP producers and public and private European stakeholders regulatory and commercial requirements, and responses to new problems to be introduced into support activities to ACP operators.
Meanwhile, the PIP toolbox has been updated. The new version has a new library section, with access to training modules, brochures, handbooks and demonstration materials, explanatory sheets of EU regulations, statistics about the ACP-EU horticultural trade and to all PIP magazines.
