Wincanton has produced an online safety manual for employees and an online risk assessment pilot, following a review of all health and safety policies, it was revealed at a Transfrigoroute UK meeting. Other recent initiatives by Wincanton to combat the issues of driver safety and accident prevention include the development of a safety management training course, and the setting of minimum standards.
Roger Amos, president of Transfrigoroute was pleased with the meeting. He said: "This meeting was one of our most successful yet. We had some interesting and informative presentations, providing some useful practical advice to those who attended."
Robin Sharp, head of health and safety services at the Freight Transport Association outlined the risks of driving at work. His presentation included a discussion of the scope of the problem, revealing that more than 3,500 people are killed each year.
Transfrigoroute is an organisation owned and managed by its members. It is dedicated to improving standards in the temperature-controlled transportation industry.
