A quartet of the UK food and drink industry’s leading personalities are to discuss whether consumers will ‘trade up’ after the recession has ended at the forthcoming trade show, Food & Drink Expo 2010 on March 21-24, 2010, at the NEC in Birmingham.

Taking part in a panel discussion entitled ‘Provenance over prudence - has the recession changed the way we eat forever?’ will be Asda corporate affairs director Paul Kelly; Soil Association commercial director Jim Twine; Leon Restaurants founder and chief executive Henry Dimbleby; and TNS Worldpanel communications director Ed Garner.

The four panellists will be addressing the impact the downturn has had on consumer behaviour when it comes to shopping for groceries and eating out, and attempting to predict whether thrifty habits will give way to extravagance once the economy is back on track, or whether frugality is here to stay.

The discussion will take place in the Food & Drink Expo Business Briefing Theatre on March 24, 2010. The theatre will be the stage for a series of panel debates addressing hot topics in all parts of the food industry for the duration of the four-day show. Other sessions will include ‘Food 2.0 - to Tweet or not to Tweet’.

An appearance is scheduled by mysupermarket.co.uk’s vice-president for marketing and business development, Amir Konigsberg, on March 22.
