Egyptian exporter Trade Waves has boosted its sendings of grapes to the UK over the last two years.

This year the firm is hoping for 50 per cent of its volumes to head to the market.

“The quality of the fruit this year seems good due to stable weather in Egypt,” said the firm’s Ahmed El-Hodaiby at Fruit Logistica. “However, I am not sure we will reach our target for UK sendings because of the exchange rate.”
