Trade urged to sign polytunnel petition

A petition to the Prime Minister for the removal of planning permission for polytunnels has been posted on the 10 Downing Street website.

British Summer Fruits is urging the trade sign online and back the cause.

The deadline to sign up is March 21, 2008.

The petition creator wrote on the site: “Polytunnels are a fruit and veg producers best friend, allowing crops to be started with a greater degree of protection than if planted straight into soil. Councils should not insist on planning permission for these as they are as temporary as a greenhouse. Keep the UK growing it's own food!”
