A leading provider of logistical services has developed a web-based tracking and tracing software system, allowing companies to track their containers at any time or place.
Wolfgang Orgeldinger, chief operating officer of IFCO Systems, said: “We are the world’s leading operator of a pool of folding re-usable containers and pallet management services, and this new system allows us to monitor the movements of our containers with maximum precision.
“This enables us to optimise the process control system and exploit our capacities to the full.”
He said the solution being shown at Fruit Logistica will in future be made available to customers.
Orgeldinger added: “Tracking and tracing is of vital importance for the producers of and dealers in foodstuffs for reasons of quality assurance and in order to optimise the supply chain. It is against this background that we have decided to present our solution at Fruit Logistica 2005.”
