Total Produce plc announced today that it has acquired the trade and trading assets of the Leicester, Nottingham and Doncaster operations of George Smalley Limited, a long established fresh produce wholesaler, with a turnover of around £10 million.
Denis Punter, executive chairman of Total Produce, said: “We welcome the Smalley staff in all three locations to Total Produce and look forward to working together to develop the new opportunities this acquisition will provide.”
The acquisition is likely to have significant implications for the wholesale trades in each of the three towns. Punter was not available for further comment.
