Top chef Gary Rhodes is joining forces with the NFU to promote British produce.

The culinary celebrity has helped create a recipe leaflet using little-red-tractor food – the British Farm Standard logo that appears on home-grown fruit, vegetables, milk, poultry and meat in retail outlets across the country.

'Recipes for Spring and Summer' will be available from the end of March and includes creations from his latest book.

Rhodes said: 'It is difficult to beat the freshness and quality of locally grown food eaten when it is in season.' Some 300,000 copies of the recipe leaflet will be distributed via farmers' markets, NFU regional offices and the NFU Food and Farming roadshow, which begins its tour of England and Wales in May.

NFU president Ben Gill said: 'We are delighted that Gary has agreed to provide these mouth-watering recipes for our leaflet. His continuing support for British produce is greatly valued, especially during these difficult times for farmers.' The leaflet will also be posted on the little red tractor website from the end of March, and shoppers will have an opportunity to win a copy of Gary Rhodes' most recent book 'Cookery Year – Spring into Summer'.
