The Soil Association has again enlisted celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall to join the judging panel at this year’s Organic Food Awards.
The event is to be held at Bristol’s Bordeaux Quay on September 1.
More than 50 awards will be handed out for organic fruit and vegetables, as well as meat, poultry, baby foods and other items.
Principal sponsor Highland Spring Natural Mineral Water will present the Local Food Initiative of the Year prize.
Other special awards include Organic Box Scheme of the Year, Producer of the Year and the Organic Trophy award.
Fearnley-Whittingstall said: “I've been asked to judge the Soil Association Organic Food Awards for the sixth year and I can't wait. I'm a committed supporter of the Soil Association and their annual awards, which is a celebration of all that is tasty, healthy and nutritious about eating local, fresh, organic food.”
The closing date for entry forms is April 28 and entry is open to all producers, including non-SA licensees.
Patrick Holden, director of the Soil Association said: “The organic movement is at a tremendously exciting phase. We have reached a tipping point where millions of people are committing to organic food and taking part in the organic revolution.
“The Organic Food Awards are a celebration and expression of this, ensuring the integrity and quality of organic food is protected and promoted.”
