Equipment manufacturer Tong Peal is showcasing its new TPS-Pro Polisher, offering growers the opportunity to see the machine in action.
TPS-Pro is said to offer packhouses reliable and virtually maintenance-free vegetable polishing, and features direct drive inside every shaft, self-contained stainless steel motors within their own oil baths, and waterproof sealed bearings.
The polisher is fitted with a patented drive system with gold-plated contact points for optimum longevity and efficiency. Internally sealed drum motors and unique design eliminates rust or corrosion within the system, as well as facilitating fast and easy brush exchange, according to the company.
The system can be used on a range of crops from potatoes and carrots to parsnips and beetroot. It is manufactured in a 14-brush model featuring a 3m long x 800mm barrel, as well as an 18-brush model featuring a 3m long x 1050mm barrel. It provides outputs of between 15-30 tonnes per hour and can be integrated into static lines, or specified as a standalone model.
“With buyers and contractors increasingly demanding a higher grade of washed and polished crop to meet customer requirements for convenient, ready-to-cook fresh food products, we are introducing a new polisher which is specifically designed to improve appearance and ensure a quality finish,” said Charles Tong, MD at Tong Peal Engineering.
