Great British weather and high consumer demand for home-grown salads sent sales rocketing in The Co-operative’s stores during British Tomato Week last week.
Soaring temperatures across the whole country arrived for the annual promotion, providing an ideal opportunity to raise awareness, sample, inform and discuss the wide range of varieties on offer.
David Morris, category buyer for salads at The Co-operative, said: “British Tomato week highlights the start of the season and we are delighted to be involved. The Co-operative is a long-term supporter and we are committed to offering a full range of British salads in all our stores. We are looking forward to another very successful summer campaign.”
The Co-operative was supported in store again this year by Capespan International, Stubbins Marketing and IVG White. Shoppers were offered samples of a number of different varieties including the Piccolo, Elegance, Amoroso and Sunstream as well as ever-popular classic round tomatoes.
