British tomato growers will be celebrating British Tomato Week at the Palace of Westminster from 15-22 May.

Parliamentary chefs will be preparing tomato dishes at three House of Commons restaurants featuring the best of the British crop. And the British Tomato Growers’ Association (TGA) has invited MPs with growers in their constituency to come and meet association chairman Nigel Bartle and a giant tomato mascot outside the House on College Green on Wednesday at 10-11.30am.

Some MPs are also organising visits to tomato nurseries in their constituencies and the TGA is working with its members to support tastings, cookery demonstrations and competitions at selected stores in all the major multiples throughout the week.

There will also be specially stickered fruit reminding shoppers that it is British Tomato Week.
