Morrisons is retailing a limited edition Tiger pear this week for just six days.
The fruit hit the shelves on Monday and is in stock in every Morrisons store nationwide.
The Yorkshire retailer’s Dutch suppliers have sent the fruit, which has been in storage since harvest last autumn.
Tiger is in fact a Conference pear, but its stripes have been achieved using a natural variegation process shielding parts of the skin from sunlight while it is growing in order to achieve the distinctive look.
Morrisons is keeping tight-lipped as to the exact volume its Dutch producer has managed to grow, but is hoping that the offer can be bettered next year.
Morrisons buyer Jonathan Hooper said: “The Tiger pears are sure to be a roaring success with our shoppers.
“As these delicious, decorative pears are only available for one week, we are urging our customers to get their paws on them.”
