Chambers’ new fruit-to-go brand, The Fruitery, has been given a speedy BRC accreditation, two months after its official launch.

Chambers said early accreditation was “part of the business plan” having invested £2million in a new high care facility, which enables The Fruitery to transfer fruit from the field to chilled storage within hours.

The Fruitery supplies a range of own-label fresh fruit medleys in a ready-to-eat format for foodservice and supermarkets. The brand offers a reduced supply chain which delivers efficiency and an extended shelf life of up to two days.

Its accreditation with BRC sees it gain a crucial benchmark in demonstrating process compliance and industry best practise.

The Fruitery’s group technical director, Rupert Carter, said: “After a three-month validation period, we are delighted to receive the news that The Fruitery has achieved Grade A BRC accreditation. This internationally renowned standard enables us to demonstrate the capable nature of Chambers’ new venture, providing reassurance to our customers and the confidence to buy with trust.

“The Fruitery will be aiming at attainment of the double ‘A’ grade next year, as we move over to the unannounced scheme, although we were only a few marks short of being scored that this time around.”
