The Co-operative’s Good with Food roadshow put English top fruit in the spotlight at the Masterchef Live show at London’s Olympia earlier this month.

Co-operative supply partner Orchard Fruit Direct supported the retailer’s activity at the three-day event with tastings on The Co-operative’s stand.

David Morris, retail development controller at Orchard Fruit Direct, said: “We were delighted to support the Co-operative Group in this initiative, as not only did it provide us with a great opportunity to promote the virtues of home-grown apples and pears, but it also enabled us to speak to consumers with regard to some of the newer UK varieties available in Co-operative stores, such as Cameo and Rubens. The feedback was extremely positive and will assist us greatly in developing the sales of these varieties.”

The Co-operative used the show as an opportunity to showcase its offer.

Jim Atkinson, top-fruit buyer for The Co-operative Group, said: “This event provided a perfect platform from which to highlight The Co-operative’s ongoing support for UK apples and pears and, thanks to the support of our growers, it is our aim to retail as wide a selection as possible of the many fantastic varieties on offer throughout the season.”
