Jamie Thornton from Swindon has been crowned Britain's Best Apple Pie Baker following a countrywide competition that was started last October. The Bramley Campaign partnered with Woman's Weekly magazine and held regional road shows across the UK last autumn in search of Britain’s best apple pie baker.

Three finalists competed in a live bake-off at a grand final in London on May 17. Judge Sue McMahon, cookery editor for Woman's Weekly said: "The standard of baking at the final was excellent. Jamie's dish particularly impressed me due to the perfect combination of sweet light pastry and the tartness of the Bramley apple filling".
