The 25,000,000 container company

On September 24, the 25 millionth foldable container was made for Euro Pool System, the largest European pool organisation for pallets and returnable containers. A de Bruijn, general manager of Euro Pool System, was handed the container by RPM Wolfkamp, managing director of Schoeller Wavin Systems, and W Roelofs, general manager of bekuplast GmbH, the two companies that produce the foldable container.

Schoeller Wavin Systems BV and bekuplast GmbH have made containers for Euro Pool System at various locations for more than 30 years. Until 1999, only the Euro Pool System rigid containers were used for packaging vegetables and fruit. Increasing transport distances and the associated cost increases resulted in a search for a more economical container. The foldable container was developed as a result.

The foldable container has many advantages. Considerable savings can be made on both internal and external transport costs due to volume reduction, which is 74 per cent for the largest model. Six types of Euro Pool System foldable containers are now available on the market. Of course, the strong plastic containers are ideal for stacking on top of each other or with other European containers. The foldable container has grown into one of Euro Pool System's most well known products.

Recently, the logistical service provider started on the development of the second generation of plastic foldable containers to produce an even better model. The newest model has a bottom that is just 3cm high when folded, which results in even greater volume savings. Moreover, the container has a greater number of ventilation holes that means that products can be kept more consistently cool. The smooth surface on the inside and outside ensure that the products are not damaged during transport and storage. Moreover, its tray can be cleaned more easily.

Bekuplast GmbH has more than 15 years of experience and has acquired considerable know-how in the field of synthetic containers for transport and storage. This means that bekuplast can offer tailor-made solutions as well as standard solutions to the logistical, industrial, agricultural and food sector.

Schoeller Wavin Systems develops and produces innovative, cost-saving synthetic return systems for beer, soft drinks, letter and parcel post, vegetables and fruit, car parts, chemist items and numerous other products.
