Thames Fruit was last week selected as runner-up in the Kent Company Of The Year category at the Kent Business Awards 2004.

The prestigious awards have been running since 1993, and recognise excellence within businesses throughout Kent. They took place last Thursday, at the Saga Pavilion, Sandgate, Kent. These prestigious awards have been running since 1993, and recognise excellence within businesses throughout Kent.

Finalists are chosen from more than 40,000 companies located in Kent. The criteria laid down by judges for all companies entering the competition, states that businesses must:

• Demonstrate a strong strategic direction.

• Have a proven track record in growth, turnover and profit.

• Deliver quality and performance.

• Demonstrate commitment to the development of staff.

• Contribute to the Kent economy.

• Be a ‘go-to’ company

He added that achieving the runners-up spot in this category is a fantastic reflection on how much Thames Fruit has achieved in recent years.

This accolade tops off a busy six weeks of awards for Thames Fruit, coming after its 'Mega Growth' 2004 award, as the 11th fastest growing company in Kent, and a runner-up spot in the FPJ Re:fresh Importer of the Year 2004 category.
