Tesco tills in meltdown chaos

Tesco checkouts were thrown into chaos yesterday when a computer crash potentially cost the store millions of pounds and hordes of annoyed customers.

Customers dumped their shopping as tills at 150 Tesco stores malfunctioned and prevented the use of cash or credit cards from 8am on Monday.

The system crash cost the chain an estimated six-figure sum in lost sales and Tesco blamed an overload of information being fed into computers at its 2,000 stores, The Mirror reports.

Aylesbury in Bucks, Mold in North Wales and Worcester were among the stores hit on the same day the chain relaunched its £150 million loyalty card campaign.
