Tesco is the nation’s favourite supermarket brand, according to a survey out last week by communications agency Joshua in conjunction with Marketing magazine.
The supermarket chain, which takes one pound of every eight spent on the high street, came second in a poll of Britain’s best loved brands, receiving 28.6 per cent of the vote.
The retailing giant was topped only by online search engine Google, favoured by 31.6 per cent of the respondents.
Research also showed that consumers profess to love Mark’s & Spencer, while budget stores Lidl and Kwik Save were the least popular.
Matthew Howells, a director at Joshua, said of the leading marques: “They are the sort of brands you discover on your own terms.”
Fast food companies featured prominently in the most hated brands list, with Pot Noodle ranking top with 20.6 per cent of the vote. McDonald’s was voted fourth most hated brand, receiving 14.8 per cent of the vote.
