US-based fresh produce distributor Bissett Produce is winding down its operations after filing for bankruptcy last week, according to reports.
It is understood that the firm is a major sweet potato supplier to Tesco. The supermarket did not respond to FPJ's request for comment, but sources claim there is sufficient crop available on the market this year to ensure it will not suffer shortages.
Bissett reportedly filed for bankruptcy with £3.5 million in liabilities, including several large disputed debts with suppliers.
