Plans for a new Tesco supermarket in Bradford could be approved despite a number of issues concerning the application.

The store in Queensbury was refused permission in December for its first set of plans for a new outlet.

Despite being recommended by Bradford Council planning officers, councillors voted against the scheme.

The retailer lodged an appeal over the decision earlier this year and simultaneously submitted a second application.

The principle of a food store on the site was established by previous planning permissions, but they have lapsed.

This time round the bid has drawn more support than objectors, with 33 letters for the store and eight against.

Concerns about store design and access to the site have dogged the application, but a poll of local members found that more than 90 per cent of those at a public meeting in 2008 wanted a new supermarket in the village.
