Tesco picked up its third Stone Fruit Retailer of the Year award from South African suppliers after a ''superb' 2016/2017 season.
The retail giant achieved a record season in peaches and nectarines as well strong figures in plums, working with campaign group Hortgro to implement promotional activities for consumers and staff.
The award is handed out by Hortgro every year for retailers based on support and performance during the season.
Presenting the award at the retailer’s head office last month, Jacques du Preez, general manager of trade & markets at Hortgro, said: “South African growers are awarding the title of Stone Fruit Retailer of the Year to Tesco for its ongoing support to the stone fruit category and another superb performance during the SA season.
He continued: “This is the third time Tesco has won this award, which is not surprising given its continual focus on achieving excellence in stone fruit.”
