Tesco gets the taste for pink onions

A new variety of pink onions has been launched in Tesco.

Rosanna Pink have been grown by Stourgarden in the Stour Valley and are said to be a unique alternative to the traditional brown and red varieties. They feature a subtle, mild flavour along with a 'blush' flesh and are described as ideal in both hot and cold meals.

The onions are available in packs of three for £1.30, with 10p from each pack donated to Cancer Research UK.

'Rosanna Pink onions are the latest in a series of fresh innovations throughout the Tesco produce fixture,' said Tesco onion buyer Steven Williams. 'The variety offers us a clear point of difference from our retail competitors and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to offering consumers new and exciting products.

'We are also delighted that each pack sold will contribute to the ongoing work carried out by Cancer Research UK.'
