Supermarket commits an additional £4 million to areas most in need
Tesco is expanding its Fruit & Veg for Schools programme for another year, with the aim of reaching more schools across the UK.
In a brief announcement, the supermarket confirmed that for the whole of the 2025/26 academic year, free fruit and veg from local Tesco stores will be made available to give children a nutritious boost that they might not otherwise get.
Tesco said it has committed a further £4 million to fund fruit and veg provisions, with the cash specifically targeted in areas where the proportion of pupils receiving free school meals is above 50 per cent.
The Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools programme launched in September 2024 as part of the retailer’s Stronger Starts funding and community support for children.
