Tesco is reported to be increasing its holdings in the Czech Republic with the purchase of 27 supermarkets.
The UK number one retailer is purchasing the small-format outlets from Edeka Zentrale of Germany, the Czech antimonopoly office has announced.
According to local media reports, Tesco is expected to compete the deal in a month. At the moment, the retailer has six department stores, 28 hypermarkets and one supermarket.
At the moment, Tesco is the fifth largest chain in the Czech Republic, according to turnover.
