We were delighted to be able to announce a fortnight ago that Tesco had pledged its support to the Eat in Colour campaign. Put together with Asda’s early commitment to Eat in Colour there is now considerable retailer backing for our proposal for a three-year campaign of public relations activity.

For those who have missed the coverage over the last two months, the campaign plans to use the vivid colours of fruit and vegetables to appeal to consumers, at the same time providing an over-arching link for existing promotional activity.

We have set a target of raising £500,000 per year for this communications programme with an aim of growing overall consumption by five per cent.

There has been strong support from a wide range of businesses from across the sector.

But we need support from everyone - growers, packers, wholesalers, importers and retailers - if we are going to make the campaign a success.

I urge those who have not yet pledged their support to contact the FPC, ideally no later than December 16. Call the FPC on 01733 237117 for more information.

Meanwhile the spectacular and prestigious FPC Dinner will celebrate its 60th anniversary in the elegant surroundings of the Savoy Hotel, London on Saturday, February 25, 2006.

The host nation is South Africa and our thanks go to the SA High Commission for their support and involvement, and to our sponsors, particularly this year’s main sponsor, Safmarine.

This is a special opportunity to entertain your guests at the Savoy with fine food and vibrant entertainment with a South African verve for rhythm and sound.

Numbers are limited, so please confirm your interest to avoid disappointment. Booking forms are available from Angie Stuart at the FPC office.
