Tesco is cutting the cost of 1,000 everyday items in a Big Christmas Price Drop.
The supermarket said fruit and vegetables would fall in price because Christmas was “about the products you need to buy each week as well as the treats”.
Richard Brasher, CEO of Tesco UK, said: “Big Price Drop wasn’t a one hit wonder. It is a rolling campaign to help customers.”
Meanwhile Asda has announced families who use the retailer’s online price guarantee check to see how their grocery bill compares with rival stores will get a £5 reward on receipts worth £40 or more.
The supermarket also said its employees would a receive 'Festive Thank You' package worth a total of £17 million.
It will include a £20 Asda gift voucher, free festive meal and £5 towards a Christmas party.
