Talstar, the broad spectrum insecticide, is set to be replaced by new brand Gyro, according to crop protection marketing form Certis.
The new product, which contains the same active ingredient and has the same dose rates and treatment timings, can be applied to a wider range of crops.
Gyro can be used on the same crops as Talstar - brassicas, apples and pears, strawberries, ornamentals and hops - as well as a range of combinable crop types.
The product is equally effective against a range of pests including whitefly, spider mite, aphid, vine weevil, caterpillar, scale, leafhopper and thrips, according to Alan Horgan, technical officer at Certis.
He said: “It delivers fast pest knockdown and with a short - and in some cases a zero day - harvest interval it is ideal for clean up in many crops.”
