Talking gift tags set for online flower market

A novelty audio message gift tag has been launched for the online flower market.

The credit card-sized tag, which was designed by Morag Hutcheon, award-winning inventor and director of Hertfordshire-based company Pre.vu, plays a message recorded by the person sending the flowers.

The 60-second personalised message is intended as an alternative to a printed or hand-written message.

Hutcheon said: “Hearing a special message is so much more emotive than reading it. Added to the fact that so many of us inject a little of our personality and characteristics onto the things we do, the audio message tag has a unique appeal for both the giver and receiver of flowers.”

The audio tag provides a point of sale that increases the profit from an individual sale after the customer has committed to a flower purchase, she added.

Branded cardboard sleeves showing promotional messages or logos can be used with the tags.

Hutcheon added: “As with any new value-added purchase, differentiation provides a fantastic income and profit-generating opportunity. WE are already talking to a number of online flower companies, and we hope to announce the first to market very shortly.”
